Another summer begins

So Petra finished her last day of grade one. Already. I can't believe how fast time goes! How can it be that my daughter is going to be going into grade two! Adrianah will be starting preschool in September, wow, I am going to be the only one home all day before I know it.
Petra is slowly loosing her teeth. A few weeks ago when I was taking her to her friends birthday party she mentioned that one of he loose teeth was basically just hanging on by a string, I told her to just pull it out or she will swallow it or something, she told me that it will hurt and didn't want to pull it out. There's no point in arguing with her, moms don't know anything anyway....it was time for the party to be over and I went to get her, I didn't even get in the door and was told by one of her friends "Petra swallowed her tooth." I couldn't help myself, I looked at her and said "I told you so." (See moms DO know a little bit). Walking to the car Petra told me that she was eating some watermelon and bit down on something hard, she thought it was a seed so she just swallowed it and realized it was her tooth. I asked her why she didn't spit it out if she thought it was a seed, I didn't get an answer. So Wildor and I were teasing her that she got to start looking for it, suggesting different ways she could go about finding it (of which I won't mention in this, I don't want to gross you out, I am sure you have an imagination and can guess what Wildor and I would have said). Anyway it came down to me just telling her that she would have to just write a letter to the tooth fairy and explain to her what happened, and draw a picture for her. So that's what she did. I also suggested that with her new bed she has, it might be difficult for the tooth fairy to get to her pillow so to just leave it on her steps (she has a loft bed, I will try to remember to post pictures of it later). When she was in kindergarten her teacher told her that her kids would put a bowl of water by their bed when they lost a tooth and the tooth fairy would dip her wings in it and the kids always liked to see what color the water would be, so Petra thought it was a good idea so next to her letter to the tooth fairy she put a bowl of water. When the tooth fairy came, she left the letter knowing that I would want to put it in my scrapbook, as well as dipping her wing in the water leaving it pink and leaving the money. Man, I wish I was a kid loosing my teeth, for the first tooth Petra lost, she got $2, and every other tooth she has lost she gets $1. If I remember right, the tooth fairy would only leave $.25 for me, yes that is right A QUARTER! I think that by the time she is done loosing teeth the tooth fairy is going to be poor! Now every time Petra is eating watermelon, I ask her "you don't have a loose tooth do you?" she gives me the look, she doesn't like that. I tell her often that she is getting crotchidy in her old age and again she gives me the look and stomps her foot at me with hands on her hips. Its fun to tease her like that. Not long ago she told me that she doesn't want parents who tease her. I told her she better go find other parents then, she didn't like that.
Adrianah is quite the handful lately. Mom often tells me that she looks like I did at that age and acts how I did too. Oh man, I am SO sorry mom! Geeze louise will we have our hands full when she gets older. She is constantly telling me "no" and stomping her foot at me. Today we went to Fish Creek Park to have a picnic breakfast thing with some friends and when she was told it was time to go she stomped her foot and told me no, I gave her another chance to correct that and she didn't so I went over to spank her and in doing so, I hurt my wrist. How stupid is that!?! "so, how did you hurt your wrist?" "I was spanking my daughter". And the mouth that that child has! And the attitude....it is interesting how different siblings are! Petra is almost a spitting image of her father, acts like he did (does), looks like he did (does) etc. and Adrianah is almost a spitting image of me, acts like I did (do). looks like I did (do) etc. It is however, quite rewarding to be out somewhere (grocery store etc.) and have complete strangers tell me that "you have very beautiful daughters!" I am amazed at how often I (and Wildor) get told that. And generally speaking they are pretty well behaved in public as well.
I am glad I have 2 girls that right now, are best friends, I really hope that continues and they stay best friends!
I will try to post some pictures of them and their (new) beds soon.

Mooommmyyy

Sitting at the table as a family at breakfast on Friday morning, Wildor finished his breakfast and reached for the Saskatoon pie that was in the box on the table and proceeded to get a piece out and I said to him "what is that teaching our daughters?" and he said "what?" and I said, "pie is considered a dessert and you always tell the girls that they can't have dessert after breakfast" and before he could say anything, Adrianah who is sitting across from us says "mooommmyyy! Daddy can have dessert if he wants to!" Case closed I suppose. Nothing more to be said, just a chuckle as in "haha, you were told" from Wildor.

Petra has completed another year in the Girl Guide program and has moved from Sparks up to Brownies, so starting in September she will be a Brownie. Last Wednesday was the advancement ceremony and here is a video I took of what her leaders said about her as she was receiving her pin.

Oh yeaha, Uh huha!

So, a little while ago, Adrianah wanted to play her guitar and she asked "can I play as loud as daddy does?" and I said "no, play a little quieter please" and her reply was "okay mommy." so she started to play, and she also started to sing. I was trying not to pee myself laughing so hard, without her knowing I was laughing. Then when Wildor got home from work I had her play and sing for him too and he couldn't help but chuckle too. She won't usually do it just out of the blue when I ask her. But today, I got lucky, I asked her if she would play the guitar and sing for me to take video and she said yes so I wanted to share with everyone. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Make sure you listen to the end cuz it is just adorable how she ends it.

Cat farts stink a little

I was getting ready for the day yesterday and Adrianah was in my bedroom petting the cat, she came to me and said "Blink farted" and I said "yeah? it stinks doesn't it!?" to which she replied "yeah, just a little, not like Fain's" (Fain is my in-laws dog). And Adrianah continues "Blink just has little farts, and I have big farts..." and she kept going on....I couldn't believe that my 3 year old GIRL was going on about farting. This conversation was another reminder about how much like me and my side of the family she is.
A bit later in the day yesterday we went to the mall with Jen and Adrianah and Aleksia were holding hands and walking and we were following behind and a short conversation the two had went something like this:

Aleksia "I like to make new friends"
Adrianah "Yeah, but I'm not new"
Aleksia "Yeah, you are old"

and then it just kind of tapered off from there. It is strange how many people asked us if they are sisters. Then we were in La Vie en Rose (an underwear store like Victoria Secret) and they were going crazy with the bras and top pieces saying the cutest things, Jen and I were pretty well peeing ourselves laughing, they were saying things like "i want this boobie thing for Christmas" "this one is HUGE like Auntie". I can't remember all the stuff they were saying but man are they cute! (sometimes). When we were in Jens truck driving to different places the other day, we looked in the back and they were holding hands.

Another time a couple weeks ago they were playing upstairs and came down to show me their dress up clothes they had on.

Aleksia has the gun holsters on her feet, I thought that was very cute.

Time doesn't stop

I can't believe how fast the girls are growing up! Adrianah is going to be 4 at the end of March and Petra is going to be 7 at the end of April. It is so hard to believe! I just registered Adrianah in preschool and she will start in September. Anita takes Petra to school for me and brings her home, one of Anita's sons is Aaron and he is in Petra's class, they have become quite good friends. Anita's youngest, a girl, Anika, and Adrianah have become pretty good friends because Anita and I have become pretty good friends, she is my "sponsor" for Passion Parties so we have been spending quite a bit of time together. Adrianah and Anika will be going to preschool together and Anita and I keep joking that when they go to school we will be "childless" and so we are going to become partners in crime! It is hard to believe that in 7 short months I will not have any children home during the week, it will be the beginning of many years that I can have the freedom of doing what it is that I want to do during the day, will I go to work full time, have more time to scrapbook, get motivation to get my house clean more regularly or just spend more time with my few good friends that I have? I guess we will see what happens.
Petra is really learning a lot in school! It amazes me every day how well she is doing with reading! She was pretty excited the other day when she came home from school and had a level H in her home reading. (It starts at A and goes up one by one). I don't know what I actually thought when I had kids but I never really thought about the fact that I will get old/er and as my kids get older, I too will get older, sometimes I have a hard time thinking about getting older.
My kids have taught me a lot in the last 7 years and I know they will continue to teach me more.

Lately Adrianah asks me often if we are going to go to grandma and grandpas today. She asked me not long ago if we are going to get to see grandma and grandpa and auntie Pam "this spring". Hopefully we will be able to make a trip down, at least to Montana to have our own little family reunion this summer. It must be hard for them to be so far away from my side of the family. I know it is really hard on me!

Snowboarding

It has been a while since I have written, I will try to update a bit. Auntie Ronya was kindof feeling bad about how much Adrianah wanted to go snow boarding so on a Sunday when we were at Aggie and Detlef's for family dinner Auntie Ronya came too and brought a snow board with her. She went and bought one for them and was ready to teach them (or try to teach them) how to snowboard out there where there is the long drive way and other hills on the property. The girls were ecstatic when they saw what Auntie Ronya brought! So they got all their snow gear on and out they went to try to learn how to snowboard. I didn't last out there for to long, I took a couple pictures then I went inside, I don't like the cold and it was pretty cold out that day. They are lucky to have such good Aunts and Uncles!
